Benny Hinn’s Wife Files for Divorce

Don Price, longtime senior advisor to Benny Hinn Ministries, confirms reports in the news that Suzanne Hinn, wife of Pastor Benny Hinn, filed a petition for divorce in Orange County Superior Court on February 1, citing irreconcilable differences.

“Pastor Benny Hinn and his immediate family were shocked and saddened to learn of this news without any previous notice. The couple has been married for more than 30 years. Although Pastor Hinn has faithfully endeavored to bring healing to their relationship, those efforts failed and were met with the petition for divorce that was filed without notice.

Suzanne Harthern Hinn, the wife of healing evangelist Benny Hinn, has filed for divorce from the high-profile minister, citing irreconcilable differences.

Don Price, longtime senior adviser to Benny Hinn Ministries, said the divorce filing took Benny Hinn by surprise.

Pastor Benny Hinn and his immediate family were shocked and saddened to learn of this news without any previous notice,” Price said. “The couple has been married for more than 30 years. Although Pastor Hinn has faithfully endeavored to bring healing to their relationship, those efforts failed and were met with the petition for divorce that was filed without notice.”

Suzanne Hinn filed the papers in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1.

Hinn is well known for leading large-scale healing crusades around the world, where his popular This Is Your Day program is broadcast on Trinity Broadcasting Network and other television outlets.

He was featured on the cover of Charisma in 1979 and 1993 and has written numerous books, including his life story, Good Morning, Holy Spirit. Several of his books have been published by Strang Communications, which also publishes Charisma.

The corporate headquarters for Benny Hinn Ministries and World Healing Center Church is in Grapevine, Texas, but the Hinn family has been living in Southern California to be near the ministry-owned television studio and church in Aliso Viejo, according to the ministry Web site.

Recently, Hinn was one of six charismatic ministers targeted in an ongoing investigation by Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley, ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, to determine whether they were complying with IRS rules for nonprofits.

Hinn has said external auditors ensure his compliance with IRS regulations but he has cooperated with Grassley’s office.

Married in 1979, the Hinns have three daughters and a son.

The wife of televangelist Benny Hinn has filed for divorce from the high-profile pastor, whose reputation as an advocate of prosperity gospel has attracted millions of followers and criticism from lawmakers and watchdog groups over his lavish lifestyle.

Suzanne Hinn filed the papers in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1, citing irreconcilable differences, after more than 30 years of marriage. The papers note the two separated on Jan. 26 and that Hinn has been living in Dana Point, a wealthy coastal community in southern Orange County.

Pastor Benny Hinn and his immediate family were shocked and saddened to learn of this news without any previous notice,” Benny Hinn Ministries said Thursday in a statement. “Although Pastor Hinn has faithfully endeavored to bring healing to their relationship, those efforts failed and were met with the petition for divorce that was filed without notice.”

Hinn is one of the best known advocates of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that Christians who are right with God will be rewarded with wealth and health in this lifetime.

His TV broadcasts on the Trinity Broadcast Network, a Pentecostal broadcasting juggernaut, and other TV networks are seen by millions of people around the world nearly every day. He travels the globe in his ministry’s plane, named Dove One, holding events he calls “Miracle Crusades” that include spiritual healings.

Hinn has never fully publicly disclosed how he spends the money he raises, but his vast ministry is believed to be a multimillion-dollar operation. There was no mention of finances in the court filing, which listed three recent Southern California addresses for the family.

J. Lee Grady, contributing editor of Charisma, a news magazine on the Pentecostal community, said Hinn’s divorce is the latest in a string of high-profile ministry divorces and moral failures among the Pentecostal leaders, beginning with Ted Haggard’s fall from grace in 2006.

Grady said in an e-mail Thursday that Hinn’s followers will want an explanation for the divorce because of the high profile the couple had.

“It will be devastating to the people who have supported Benny Hinn’s evangelistic work around the world,” Grady said.

“Obviously because their ministry has been very public, they will need to issue a statement to their supporters to explain how this happened,” he said.

Just months before the petition, world renowned and controversial preacher Benny Hinn had come out to the public to answer his critics for the first time.

For years, Hinn has been a subject of scrutiny by the media and recently the government for the miraculous healings he claims to perform and the lavish lifestyle he leads. He travels to cities across the globe conducting “miracle crusades” and services. Reports from each event indicate that dozens are miraculously healed from a physical ailment, though Hinn admitted to ABC News recently that he doesn’t have medical verification of the healings.

He also told ABC he has no misgivings about the comfortable lifestyle – a private jet, fancy hotel stays, and a multimillion-dollar home – he leads.

“Look, you know there’s this idea supposedly that we preachers are supposed to walk about with sandals and ride bicycles. That’s nonsense,” he said.

Hinn is currently under a Senate investigation for possible financial misconduct.

  1. Jesus said:

“Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery and the man who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.”

    Paul said:

“For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.”

    Step 1: Divorce Your Spouse
    Step 2: Remarry Another Person
    Step 3: Commit Adultery

Notice AFTER the wedding they are committing adultery with each other. Notice AFTER the wedding the adultery STARTS.

    Are they husband and wife?

Answer: God did not join them at the altar if they are committing adultery that night AFTER they had their wedding ceremony.

Remember–it is impossible for a husband and his wife to commit adultery–WITH EACH OTHER.

If they were really joined as a husband and wife at their remarriage–Jesus would never have called their sexual relationship AFTER this wedding–adultery.

People go to the courthouse to get divorce papers to get them out of their marriage but the papers obviously don’t work because they are still committing adultery AFTER they’ve done that. Divorce does not make them single if the charge of adultery is still on them AFTER a divorce.

“Look at the legalized adultery we call divorce. Men marry one wife after another and are still admitted into good society; and women do likewise. There are thousands of supposedly respectable men in American living with other men’s wives, and thousands of supposedly respectable women living with other women’s husbands.” — R. A. Torrey

Divorce + Remarriage = Adultery (Not a legal marriage in the sight of God)

This is the first generation that believes God accepts remarriage, if your spouse has not died.

“A wife is married to her husband as long as he lives.”
